Smart Hospital
Efficiency Programs™*
Energy Conservation
Roof (ECR)
35%-70% Funding
The Energy Conservation Roof Program is designed
to provide financial assistance to healthcare facilities
in need of a roofing retrofit. Requirements for approved
retrofit solutions vary as there are oftentimes unique
specifications that must be considered for each particular
roofing application. There are, however, two basic requirements
to consider for funding eligibility. The project must
include, as part of its specifications, an average insulation
value of R-19 to increase energy efficiency of the roofing
system by minimizing undesired loss and/or gain of cooling
and/or heating year-round. The project must also be
at least 25,000 square feet (Please note that it is
acceptable to reach the minimum project size requirement
by combining the square footage of individual roofs
that are owned by healthcare facility). All other eligibility
requirements are evaluated by HFSC's National Review
Board and requirements may vary in order to conform
to local building regulations.
Once a project is approved for disbursement
of funds, applicant has one year to complete the project.
HFSC is willing to consider funding Green Roofs to minimize
the greenhouse effect. If your facility is interested
in a Green Roof, please contact a funding officer.
